Welcome to crafted by the seasons; a writing project, a meditation on place, a practice in experience. We are Michael and Joanna {aka Mike and Jo}; siblings raised in the pacific northwest who unexpectedly settled in the heartland about a decade apart. This is a collaborative project based on our personal discovery that if there is one thing that governs our lifestyle in this part of the country it is the changing of the seasons.
Here you will find reflections, recipes and images that reveal our experience living spring, summer, fall and winter in the rural upper Midwest. Shared when we find reflection or inspiration amidst the rhythm that carries us. Now in our second season, we have learned again that although we base our calendar on mother nature's seasons, she does not always maintain the patterns we have come to expect. And so as we seek to bend to her with open eyes we must remain open to the unexpected.
